My Autumn Elixir (Ayurveda)

ayurvedic tea recipeOne of my new-ish passions is Ayurveda and any chance I get to learn more, I’m on it like white on basmati rice. I was blessed to take a beautiful workshop with Kimberly Kubicke recently, all about using the wisdom of Ayurveda to assist with a smooth transition into fall.

One of the recommendations was to drink this warming tea:

  1. Thinly slice a 1″ piece of fresh ginger.
  2. Place in 2-1/2 cups water with 1/4 teaspoon of freshly-ground black pepper.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and low boil for 20 minutes.
  4. Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric just before turning off the heat.
  5. Sweeten with honey if desired.

Ingredients

1-2 scoops Young Living Vanilla Spice Pure Protein powder
3 tablespoons gluten-free oats
1 tablespoon walnuts
1 tablespoon shredded coconut
1/2 tablespoons organic raisins
1 tablespoon grade B organic maple syrup
1 drop Young Living Ocotea essential oil
1 toothpick* Young Living Nutmeg essential oil
1/2 cup ice
1 cup water (adjust to your preferred consistency)

Instructions

  1. Grind oats in Vitamix or blender.
  2. Add other ingredients and blend on high until all are incorporated.
  3. Enjoy and tell yourself how beautiful you are as you sip this healthy beverage! 😉
  4. Go to town experimenting and putting your own spin on this recipe. Add some raw cacoa powder, some almond butter, swap out the raisins for dried cranberries or apricots….sky’s the limit baby!

*toothpick means to insert a toothpick into the orifice reducer opening on the bottle of essential oil, and then swirl the coated toothpick into the smoothie. This method allows you to modulate less than a drop of essential oil into your recipes! :)
