DIY Deep Conditioner Recipe For Dry Hair

diy hair conditioner for dry hair

I have super thick, curly hair. The kind of hair that when you visit a new salon, the stylist is known to exclaim, “You have enough hair for five people!”

I went blonde again recently and am now reminded of the toll that processing takes on my locks. It’s been looking super dry and frizz-ola. And winter is coming, so I know it’s only going to get worse.

So I decided it’s time for a deep conditioner, hot oil treatment creation. This baby does the trick and of course it smells super yum!

Now, I always have a few infusions going on at any given time, and encourage you to do so as well if you want to rock out the DIY beauty care realm. The one that I recommend for this recipe is rosemary-infused jojoba oil.

Ingredients

3 tablespoons rosemary-infused jojoba oil (I think argon or avocado oil would also be awesome.)
10 drops lavender essential oil
3 drops geranium essential oil

Instructions

  1. Heat jojoba oil in microwave for 30 seconds.
  2. Add essential oils and stir.
  3. Apply to dry hair. Now, this step can get messy! I like to have a towel over my shoulders and one on the counter to catch the drops of oil that will inevitably take flight. :)
  4. Wrap your hair in a towel or plastic bag.
  5. Marinate for 15-30 minutes, and then shampoo. (I like to leave the oil in overnight and shampoo in the morning. If you do this, I recommend the plastic bag in Step 4, and put a towel over your pillow.)
  6. Tell yourself how beautiful you are and take a moment to appreciate your gorgeous locks!

DIY Nail Care Recipes: Lavender Rose Milk Hand Bath

How about a bit of spring renewal for our hands?!?! And how about it being SO simple! Mix up some of this and go to town.

Public Service Announcement:

Curious why I only use Young Living essential oils? If you already have the essential oil for this recipe, do me a favor. Go take a look at the label. Does it say “not safe for internal use,” “do not ingest,” or something to that effect? You may have heard that our skin is our largest organ. The minute we apply something to our skin, it is getting “ingested.” Just some food for thought (pun intended). But seriously, my friend, you might want to take a look at this

DIY Facial Mask Recipe

Doing this simple facial mask is such a loving way to start your week! I love to do it on Monday morning, but if Sunday nights are less hectic for you, that would be a good time too!

  2. Drop the essential oils into the kiefer, then apply on top of the honey.
  3. Luxuriate like the the Queen of Sheba for 10 minutes, soaking in the wonderful aromas! This might be a nice time to count all your blessings. :)

Brightening Cream Reviews: Sheerlume

Skin brightening products have been become all the rage recently because of their ability to make skin on the face and hands lighter, thus helping remove the appearance of some skin problems, including the dreaded “age spots” or “liver spots.” Skin brighteners can also create a more youthful, dewy appearance.

The problem with most of the skin brighteners and whiteners on the market is that their active ingredient is hydroquinone or even mercury! (Hello heavy metal poisoning! YIKES!) The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics refers to hydroquinone as “one of the most toxic ingredients used in personal care products.”

Young Living Essential Oils to the rescue!

In their continued effort to provide nontoxic alternatives, they introduced Sheerlumé at their annual convention last year. I was thrilled and so excited to try this product that I got it there and then. It is is an advanced skincare solution that combines pure essential oils with a unique blend of alpine botanical extracts to brighten and nourish the skin….sans the toxic hydroquinone.

Just like all the products in the Young Living skincare line, a little goes along way. The scent and texture are heavenly. One of my dear friends also fell in love with Sheerlumé. She shared with me that for her “applying it is like a moment at the spa!” I couldn’t agree more!
